Health & Wellbeing

The following health books are a mix of timeless classics and books that inspired or enlightened me in some way! My experience is that through Yoga and Meditation, we are naturally drawn to different foods or ways of providing nutrition to the body. In addition our relationship to the “body” as a whole changes. With so much information available on food, health and wellbeing these days, we are literally bombarded! Whilst eating well makes logical sense, it’s often overlooked how we eat or  how we feel when we eat! Do you appreciate your food? Do you take time to digest meals properly? Do you really eat when you are hungry or just out of habit or social conditioning? Are you open and accepting to other people’s choices with food? Are you conscious about whether the choices you make with food gives you energy (or depletes your energy)? Do you enjoy what you eat?!

The Optimum Nutrition Bible – Patrick Holford

This is a wonderful resource for general health and wellbeing.

The Nature Doctor – A Vogel

Dr. Vogel, Switzerland’s most celebrated naturopath and herbalist was a great believer in nature and in the body’s ability to heal itself. This book is packed with information and treatments for a variety of health conditions. (Note: Did you know Switzerland ranks as one of the world’s healthiest countries?)

Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom – Dr. Christiane Northrup

What I love about this book is that not only is Dr. Christiane Northrup a qualified medical Doctor, she also understands that the body is an energy system and that thoughts and emotions influence our health. I delve into this book regularly and recommend it highly. It’s a must have for all women.

Liver Cleansing Diet – Sandra Talbot

Anyone interested in their health should own a copy of this book about the Liver. The Liver does so much work on the body’s behalf… love your liver and live longer.

The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush – Andreas Moritz

If you’re ready to do some maintenance or “cleansing” work on the liver and gallbladder, read this book! It guides you through the process in detail.

Living Foods for Optimum Health – Brian R. Clement and Theresa Foy DiGeronimo

For more than 40 years, the Hippocrates Health Institute has been teaching people how to cleanse and heal their bodies with naturally potent living foods. This book shares why living foods are vital to good health! They also share very interesting facts about the way food gets marketed (using Omega 3 as an example)! Read this and be educated!

Sugar Blues – William F. Duffy

If you love your sweets and are addicted to sugar, reading this will make you think twice. The authors share how sugar is as additive as nicotine (and equally poisonous). It certainly made me view sugar in a different light, especially because it is so commonly accepted and overlooked in our society.

Sugar Shock! – Connie Bennett & Stephen T. Sinatra

This book reveals just how bad sugar is for our body and how it creates all kinds of side effects such as brain fog, fatigue, mood swings, heart disease and even going so far to suggest it is a key cause of cancer.
